Brønshøj Vandtårn

Ib Lunding, working under city architect Poul Holsøe, designed this 34-metre reinforced-concrete water tower in 1928, its round footprint ringed with closely spaced pilasters and a helix of round windows near its base — an early and unusually refined example of functionalist architecture. It supplied water to Copenhagen's growing northwest from 1930 until 2011, when the city sold it; since 2019 it has operated as a cultural venue, prized for the acoustics its cavernous concrete interior happens to produce.
