Bibliotek for humaniora

Designed by architects Kaare Kvilhaug and Jo Svare, this library building at Haakon Sheteligsplass opened in 1961 as the first purpose-built University of Bergen structure to come out of a site plan dating back to a 1917 architectural competition. A 2005 renovation added a six-storey book tower and more study space, but the protected original exterior and entrance hall were left untouched, and the library continues to serve as the university's main humanities collection today.
