Built between 1965 and 1970 to a design by architect Bjørn Simonnæs, Haukelandshallen is Bergen's largest handball venue, seating 5,100 in the Årstad borough. Its untreated concrete exterior is cast with sculptural, almost futuristic relief patterns — a deliberate architectural statement rather than the generic sports-hall treatment common to the era.
