Built in 1845–46 after the cathedral school outgrew its centuries-old home on Klingenberg, this building on Lille Gråbrødrestræde served as Odense's Latin school, with nine classrooms and a singing hall doubling as a ceremonial space. Its strict, late-classical facade — stucco cornices and rusticated masonry softened by a delicate paint scheme — reflected its original dignified, educational purpose. The school moved out in 1894, and the building took on a very different role as home to Odense's post and telegraph service.
