Archaeologists excavating Ullandhaug between 1967 and 1968 uncovered a farmstead from the Migration Period, around 350–550 AD, that had burned down for reasons still unclear — possibly a raid. What stands today is a full reconstruction built directly on that original site: three longhouses, two around 35 metres long and one 45 metres, arranged around a courtyard open toward the fjord. It's the only reconstruction of its kind in Norway, and the original fireplaces inside are still lit for visitors, three kilometres from central Stavanger with views over Hafrsfjord.
