Louis XVI

Built in 1811–1813 as the home of merchant and politician Peder Valentin Rosenkilde — one of the 112 men who signed Norway's 1814 constitution at Eidsvoll, representing Stavanger — this was the largest private residence in the city at the time. Its Louis XVI detailing and elegant central staircase reflect the wealth of Stavanger's merchant class in the early 1800s. Today it operates as a conference centre and wedding venue on Strandkaien, by the harbour.
