Built in 1942 at Eiganes gravlund, Stavanger's crematorium sits at the head of the cemetery's main avenue, close to a Commonwealth War Graves plot holding 44 British and Commonwealth service members alongside Norwegian, Soviet and Polish war graves. The building's wartime construction date is itself notable — Norway was under German occupation throughout, making this one of relatively few civic buildings completed in the country during those years.
