Kronprinsen

Client Hugo Åberg wanted the shimmering glass-mosaic effect of Milan's Palazzo Pirelli, and architects Thorsten Roos and Kurt Hultin delivered it here with nearly two million mosaic tiles fading gradually from dark to light across the facade. Completed in 1964 at 82 metres and 27 storeys, Kronprinsen was Sweden's first high-rise and, briefly, its tallest residential building — a mixed-use complex of 700 apartments, a shopping centre of around 40 shops, a clinic and a tennis hall all under one roof.
