Sten Samuelsson — the architect behind Gothenburg's Ullevi stadium — designed this church with fellow architect Åke Martinsson between 1981 and 1983, breaking sharply from convention: seen from above, the building forms the shape of a butterfly. Inspired by the surrounding park, Samuelsson let the trees seem to continue inside, resting the roof on six pillars shaped to evoke branching tree crowns. The congregation, formed in 1969, had made do with a parish hall for over a decade before finally getting a church built, and the building has been protected under Sweden's Cultural Heritage Act since 1990.
