Kulturhuset Stadsteatern

Stockholm's 1950s–60s Norrmalm redevelopment created an opening for a dedicated culture house at Sergels Torg, and architect Peter Celsing won the 1965 competition to design it. His building, opened in 1974, splits into a simple square theatre and a long exhibition wing, its street-facing side almost entirely glazed to put culture on visible display to the square outside, in deliberate contrast to its closed, solid rear elevation. Since 2013 it has operated under the combined name Kulturhuset Stadsteatern, run by the municipally owned Stockholms Stadsteater — but the building itself is Celsing's, unchanged since the 1970s.
