Europahuset

BP Oil approached Aarhus lawyer S. Storm Mortensen in 1956 looking for a new domicile in central Jutland, and architects Knud Blach Petersen and Herbert Jensen delivered a 12-storey office tower — known at the time as BP-Huset — built 1957–59 using prefabricated methods that were still new to Aarhus construction. Its riverbank site demanded 4,600 tonnes of reinforced concrete just for the foundations. BP sold the building in 1983; it later took the name Europahuset, and since 2006 C.F. Møller Architects has occupied its top five floors, adding a penthouse level with a canteen and roof terrace.
