Danish firm Kjaer & Richter designed Alandica as a culture and congress venue on the Mariehamn seafront, opening in 2009. Its large glass façades were conceived to frame views of the surrounding archipelago, drawing inspiration from the islands and red rock formations offshore. The building holds a 600-seat main hall and a 200-seat auditorium, both angled toward the sea.
