Completed
1973

Built between 1972 and 1973 by the Provincial Government of Åland, Hotel Arkipelag was designed as part of a coordinated civic ensemble alongside the Åland Self-Government Building and the Cultural History Museum next door — the three are linked by an underground passage. The hotel's four-storey form and harbour-facing rooms were planned in dialogue with its neighbours rather than as a standalone structure, an approach that still defines this stretch of the Mariehamn waterfront.
