Style
Functionalism and Nordic Classicism

Lars Sonck wasn't originally invited to compete for the town hall commission — but once he entered, his design was judged unanimously superior and built in 1939. The three-storey building sits on a hill in a park at the town's centre, its symmetrical façades and monumental entrance stair blending the Functionalism and Nordic Classicism that defined Sonck's late career. It originally housed not just civic offices but the town library, police station, and fire station under one roof.
