Alvar Aalto designed Insinööritalo, the Engineers' House, for Finland's engineering associations, completing it in 1950 as one of his earlier postwar commissions in central Helsinki. It predates the cluster of better-known Aalto office buildings built nearby over the following two decades and shows an early version of the brick-and-copper vocabulary he would refine at Rautatalo and Kela Headquarters through the 1950s.
