Part of the wider Holmenkollen National Arena, the only Nordic skiing and biathlon complex of its kind inside a national capital, the site traces back to a wooden ski jump built on a stone ramp in 1892. The jump tower itself has been rebuilt nineteen times since, most recently between 2008 and 2010, and the surrounding stadium has hosted the Holmenkollen Ski Festival every year since 1892, alongside the 1952 Winter Olympics and four Nordic World Ski Championships. Oslo has hosted Biathlon World Cup races here since 1983.
