Norway's national football stadium opened on 26 September 1926, when home side FK Lyn beat Sweden's Örgryte IS 5–1 in the first match played there. Built originally as a bowl-shaped ground with a running track for around 35,000 spectators, it grew stand by stand — an East Stand in 1938, South in 1967, West in 1985 — before Snøhetta led a more recent renovation that folds Scandinavian minimalism and native materials into the older structure. At roughly 28,000 seats today, it remains Norway's largest football venue and home to the men's and women's national teams.
