Completed in 1961 in the Årvoll area of the Bjerke borough, Tonsen Church was designed by Georg Greve and Geir Grung — Grung would go on to become one of Norway's best-known modernists, later associated with the international Team 10 group of architects. Built from brick and slate with seating for around 600, the church includes a stained-glass window by Bernhard Greve and a fresco of the Sermon on the Mount painted by Kåre Jonsborg in 1963.
