Karl August Wrede designed this neo-baroque palace, originally named Milavida, for Peter von Nottbeck of the Finlayson textile-manufacturing family, completing it in 1898 on the Näsikallio ridge overlooking Lake Näsijärvi. A series of deaths in the Nottbeck family left the house without long-term residents, and the city of Tampere bought it in 1905, converting it into a museum by 1908; renamed Näsilinna, it underwent a full restoration completed in 2015 and still operates as a museum today.
