Tampere Deck Arena

Daniel Libeskind, working with SRV Rakennus and the local firm Aihio Arkkitehdit, designed the Tampere Deck and Arena as an entire elevated city block built directly over the central railway tracks, opening in December 2021 as the Nokia Arena. Wrapped in sinuous bands of perforated metal screening, the 11,000-seat ice hockey and events arena sits beneath residential towers and a hotel, making it as much an exercise in stitching a divided city centre back together as it is a sports venue.
