Frithiof Strandell designed Hamburger Börs in 1909 as a hotel and restaurant building in the Art Nouveau style he applied across several commercial commissions in early-twentieth-century Turku, its curved gables and decorative stonework typical of the period's break from historicist revival styles. It has operated as a hotel for over a century and remains one of the more prominent Art Nouveau facades on the city's central streets.
