Architect
Erik Bryggman
Completed
1941

Erik Bryggman designed Vesilinna, Turku's water tower, in 1941, giving a purely functional piece of civic infrastructure a stepped, sculptural concrete form on top of Samppalinnanmäki hill. The tower stopped supplying water decades ago and its upper floors now house a restaurant with panoramic views over the city and the Aura river, making it one of the more visited examples of Bryggman's late work alongside his cemetery chapel across town.
